Where you gonna build a boat?

Lacy C Construction in the
Garage of the Old House
That is probably the first question any aspiring boat builder asks themselves - "Where can I build the boat?"

Some are lucky enough to live in a climate that accommodates outdoor boat building.

When I built the Lady C, she was too big to roll over in the garage so I moved her outside and flipped her. The weather held for a few days and I was able to plank the bottom outside.

The kids lost use of their swing set for a while. That taught those ankle-biters a lesson.

Some are lucky enough to have shop space or a garage.

Our house has a third garage bay that I turned into the drum room. I installed a soundproof floor and walls. It was a nice jam space for me and the band.

But after 7 years, I grew tired of being a rich and famous rock star. So, I sold everything, removed the soundproof floor and converted the third garage bay into a boat shop.

Most of the pictures of the Nemah and Sea Scull construction are in that space.

Then there's the guy lucky enough
to convice his wife to let him build a boat in the living room, like this guy.

And the super lucky
the guy who convinces his buddy to help him build a boat in the living room.

And the super-duper lucky
the guy who convinces his buddy's girlfriend to help him build a boat in his living room.
